The short version

The OnTrack desktop app has no account system and no backend, so there is no server where job-search data could be collected, stored, or sold. This website runs no analytics and sets no tracking cookies. The rest of this page covers the one exception: the small amount of data any web server receives just by being visited.

The OnTrack app

Everything entered into the app — applications, contacts, notes, interview records, reminders — is written to a SQLite database file on the user's own computer. It is never transmitted anywhere, because the app has no server component to transmit it to.

The app makes one kind of outbound network request, only when triggered: fetching the page at a job posting URL that's been saved, so it can be archived. That request goes directly from the user's machine to the job posting's server. Nothing is relayed, seen, or logged along the way.

The experimental paste-to-parse feature sends a job description directly from the user's machine to Anthropic when the user invokes it, using an API key they supply. It is off by default. That exchange is between the user and Anthropic under Anthropic's privacy terms.

The app has no crash reporting, no analytics SDK, and no telemetry of any kind. There is no way to know how many people use OnTrack, how they use it, or whether a given install is still active.

This website

This site runs no analytics, sets no tracking or advertising cookies, and includes no third-party trackers. The hosting provider necessarily processes standard web server logs (IP address, user agent, requested pages) to serve the site — normal for any website, and not used to build a profile of anyone.

App downloads are hosted by Cloudflare. Cloudflare may process standard request data, such as an IP address and user agent, to deliver the file.

Children's privacy

OnTrack is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above changes with it. Since the app has no account system, there is no way to notify anyone individually — check back here to be sure.
